Seen from the air, isolated coral reefs appear as turquoise jewels in an otherwise empty ocean. Seen underwater, when snorkeling or diving, the profusion of life and the riot of color and activity are cause for constant wonder; the eye barely has time to rest on one curiosity or delight before its attention is demanded by another.

But coral reefs are far more than visual masterpieces; without the intricate framework that they provide, marine plant and animal diversity in the tropics would be a fraction of what it is.

DIVE SITES
Kendwa	Kendwa benefits from the numerousÊsmall islands and reefs within a 5 to 30 minute boat ride radius of the village. If it were not for these numerous islands and reefs, the diving would be difficult as the area would be open to the prevailing wind. The diving around these islands is varied with shallow reefs and coral gardens to dramatic walls and drop off's offering a variety of great diving. The islands and reefs although not designated as national parks are protected and the same rules apply, don't touch the coral or feed the fish and remember it is illegal to take anything from the sea bed dead or alive.
